WARRIORS

The road you chose to walk upon while here in life defines
The character of no single part, but all of you combined.
Intention may dwell in your heart and strength within your bones
But belief remains dormant while you have belief alone.
You must be willing when called upon to stand firm, true and steady
To what you claim is in your heart, prepare you must be ready.
The path you’re on requires action in order to get through
There are weapons you can take, tools you must use.
Do not for any reason set the weapons on the ground
For there are those who will ensnare, be cautious, look around.
As you journey on the road seek guidance from God in heaven
Be committed to staying connected to the source where Courage is given.
Although a difference you will make, it requires more than brawn
For muscles will not see you through this path for very long.
Integrity is requisite, Respect is necessary
There will be those that ridicule, pay no heed and do not tarry.
The triumph is intrinsic and comes from deep inside
Your motive for fruition must lack vain and foolish Pride
The road ahead is arduous, tremendous obstacles abound.
Many will not endure; even more will turn around
There will be times of deep despair, self-doubt at times intense.
Take Courage knowing, though they are few, others have walked this fence.
Weapons they have left behind, tools to see you through
Making the journey bearable while you blaze a trail anew.
So stop and take the time to give whatever you have stored
Within your heart and mind and soul, give all of that and more.
Hang a rope ~ build a bridge ~ Cut a trail ~ Plant seeds of Truth
For the individual who follows may be a noble youth
So when they along that lonely path are tired and ready to break
Come across what you have left behind ~ Courage they will take.
And when you finally leave this world, your journey here complete
The souls of all who traveled that road will be waiting ~You to meet
They'll want to know what hills you've climbed; what hardships you endured
And did the legacy they left behind strengthen your Courage more?
After the reminiscing and your triumphant story's told
All that have gone before will ask ~ What you've left upon that road?
After passing the test of Courage, you’ll compare your wounds to see
What scars have healed from battles, scars visible because you did not flee.
As stories shared of battles fought a silence fills this place
For the Warrior now who enters the room has saved us all through grace
We feel a sting of humility as He walks among us there
Scars upon his side, his feet and hand are scars that He still bears
For having the Courage to take upon Him all that we have born
By allowing His perfect body to be Broken, Bruised and Torn.
